Dear Little One,
I can't believe we are finally here. We have officially started IVF and we are so excited!! :)

June 11th was the start of my cycle Day 1, We called back in May but because of scheduling conflicts we weren't able to move forward. (For anyone considering IVF, I highly recommend clearing your schedule so that no conflicts some up!) Anyways, we called our Dr. with this new cycle and we got the go ahead to start with IVF. We did our IVF education day early so all of our paperwork was taken care of and our doctor already gave us the prescriptions we would need right away which were an antibiotic and birth control.
Birth Control:
This seems a little contradictory to what we are trying to do so I thought it would be helpful to explain what it does. In a normal woman's cycle, one follicle fights to be the dominant follicle and that is where the (typically one) egg comes from. In an IVF cycle they will give me an injection that will make all of my follicles dominant follicles. For this reason, my ovaries need to be in a resting state so that they don't release anything on their own. That is where birth control comes in. I started Birth control yesterday so June 13th. I was a little worries that it would make me sick but it hasn't yet so I am very thankful for that!!
Antibiotic:
The antibiotic that my Dr. prescribed me was azithromycin. The reason for antibiotics being prescribed is to prevent inflammation during my IVF cycle. Not all Dr's prescribe antibiotics prior to IVF but mine did. Heads up for anyone taking an antibiotic: it made me pretty sick. The Dr. told me to eat lots of food and drink a lot of water but it wasn't enough so I got sick that night.
Additional:
Some other things we had to do this week was order our medication. Most pharmacies don't carry IVF medication so it has to be shipped from Portland, OR. Ours will come TOMORROW! I am oddly excited about it. We also ordered a few other things that will help make me comfortable during this process and help me cherish every single moment! We got a heating pad and a medication organizer as well as fuzzy socks, and an IVF journal!
Feelings:
Overall, we are feeling SO excited to meet you little one. I am not nervous one bit because I will do whatever it takes to finally hold you in my arms. I am not worried because the Lord has brought us so far in this journey and he is good and sovereign. We are humbled in the presence of his faithfulness.
XOXO,
Mom and Dad
